Brian Turner Hoffman

August 8, 1943 — December 13, 2016

Brian Turner Hoffmann, 73, passed away December 13, 2016 at his home in Avon, Illinois. Brian was born on August 8th, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois to Noel and Neva Hoffmann.
Brian grew up in rural Trivoli, Illinois and graduated from Farmington High School in 1961. After high school, Brian attended Wentworth Military Academy for two years before graduating from the University of Wyoming with a bachelors degree in Animal Science and Masters in Wool. While in college, Brian married his high school sweetheart, Paula Ann Scapecchi. After graduation, they moved to Denver, Colorado where Brian was the Director Of Market Analysis for the American Sheep Producers Association. He then accepted a position with the Midwest Wool Growers Association and the family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas. In the mid 70's, Brian became the Hancock County Assistant Extension Advisor and they returned to Illinois to raise their three children. In 1979, Brian and Paula settled in Avon to fulfill a life long dream of raising sheep. After sheep farming, Brian brought goodies to many homes as the Schwans Man for 11 years. He also worked for Avon Public Schools and retired from Pella Window Manufacturing in Macomb, Illinois. Most notable, Brian and Paula owned The Clothesline Quilt Shop in Avon for 26 years. Brian's talent as a quilter was second to none! His work ethic was endless and he always had a "to do" list. Brian was a warm, welcoming gentleman. Everyone turned to him for his calm, thoughtful approach to life's challenges. We will miss Brian's ingenuity, giving nature and reflective conversation. He was happiest when peddling around on his bicycle or surrounded by grandchildren and family - a true testament to Brian and Paula's 51 years of marriage.
