Charles G. Ryner

January 3, 1929 — March 24, 2016

Charles G. Ryner, 87 of Galesburg (formerly of Alexis) passed away Thursday March 24, 2016, 12:35 a.m. at the Knox County Nursing Home. He was born January 3, 1929 in Monmouth, IL the son of James and Clara (Ranney) Ryner. He married Reva Cathleen Woods on January 9, 1955 in Galesburg, IL; she preceded him on April 30, 2009.

Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters Donna (Jim) Peterson of Rockford, IL, Joyce (Brad) Morse of Galesburg, IL, and Janet (James) Nantz of Harlan, KY; two sons William (Leanne) Ryner of Fresno, CA, and Ed (Amy) Ryner of Dallas City, IL; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother Dean (Pauline) Ryner of Galesburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.

Charles graduated Alexis High School in 1946. He served in the U.S Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. After retirement from International Harvester he went to work for Alexis Fire Equipment and retired from there in 2008. He and his wife then moved to Galesburg, IL. He and his wife were wonderful parents who enjoyed being with family and friends. Charles will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a member of the Alexis Lions Club and of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church.

Memorial service will be Tuesday March 29, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church Alexis, IL. where pastor Brian Beert will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in the Alexis Cemetery. No visitation hours are planned. Memorials may be given to the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and or A.L.S.
