Claire R. “Zip” Ragon, 77, of Bushnell, IL passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Heartland Health Care Macomb, IL. He was born Monday, March 24, 1941 the second son to Ross E and Doris (Suter) Ragon. He married Ruby Mappin on April 4, 1977. She had two sons from a previous marriage Jon Ingler who blessed them with four grandsons: Eric, Andy, Tony and Zachary of Rushville, IL. The youngest son Jeff (Peggy) Mappin, and daughter Tasha and son Brice of Macomb, IL; also surviving is a brother Dan (Vera) Ragon of Galesburg, IL and a sister Martha (Fred) Harn of Bushnell, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters (Barbara Hammond, Genevieve Epperson, Teresa Overhulser, Beverly Derr; and a nephew (Danny Ragon).
Claire graduated from Avon High School. after graduation he joined the army from 1962-1965. Upon returning from the service he went to work for International Harvester in Canton, IL and Indianapolis. He worked for them thirty years before retiring in October of 1995. He worked part time for Bedwells Implement. He was an avid Cub fan. He enjoyed Nascar and football. His two dogs Buffy and Puppy where the love of his life.
Funeral service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL. Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery, Greenbush, IL with military rites by the Abingdon American Legion Post and the Bushnell Patriotic Flags.
