Donald L. Anderson, 81, of North Henderson, IL, died 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home.
He was born October 8, 1930 at Galesburg, IL, the son of Martin and Florence (Johnson) Anderson. He graduated from Alexis High School and attended Carthage College and Augustana College.
Donald served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955.
Don married Joan Likely on January 1, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson and she survives.
He was in the petroleum business and had served as President of the Village of North Henderson for many years. He enjoyed traveling and fishing.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Viking Club and belonged to the Quad City Oilman Club for many years.
His family includes his wife, Joan, one daughter, Paula (Cecil) Gittings of Tuttle, OK, three sons, Les (Bev) Anderson of Mt. Carmel, IL, Del (Dori) Anderson of Galesburg, IL and Dan (Shannon) Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK, five grandchildren, Bob (Dana) Gittings, Becky (Dustin) Sandlin, Meagen Anderson, Lee Anderson, Logan Anderson, three Great Grandchildren, Dylon, Arieus and Destiny Sandlin, several step-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy (Keith) Dew of Aledo and Mary Tomlins of Galesburg, one sister-in-law, Betty Forsyth of Milan along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson with Rev. Beth Hamilton. His family will be present at the church to receive friends one hour prior to the memorial services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left for Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson Fire Dept or the Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance Service.
