Donald G. Hyde, 93, of Little York, died 1:36 P.M. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born October 28, 1919 at Guttenburg, Iowa, the son of John H. and Audrey P. (Schrunk) Hyde.
He was raised and educated in the Guttenburg, Iowa area.
Donald married Helen Searl on November 15, 1941 in Galesburg, Illinois and she preceded him in death on March 24, 1991.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in India.
He farmed all of his life and had worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in West Burlington for several years. He enjoyed coming into town.
He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
His family includes one daughter, Margaret (Brad) Freytag of Burlington, IA and one son, D. David Hyde of East Peoria, two granddaughters, Sarah Cluney and Katie Work both of Burlington, great grandchildren, Audrey Work, Cameron Work and Abby Cluney, and one brother, Virgil Hyde of Guttenburg, Iowa, along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin daughters, one sister and four brothers.
Cremation has been accorded and graveside committal of ashes with military honors will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Green Mound Cemetery, Keithsburg. There is no visitation planned.
