Dorothy A. Carnes, 82, of Monmouth died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her home.
Dorothy was born December 24, 1929 in Keithsburg, IL, the daughter of David Chris and Mina Leora (Ortery) English. She was raised and educated in California.
Dorothy married Harold Carnes on June 21, 1954 in Monmouth and he survives.
She had worked at Monmouth Hospital as a bookkeeper, Sears, Monmouth Pottery and Dana Mecum Auto Auctions. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was of Presbyterian faith.
Her family includes her husband, Harold Carnes, son, Chris Carnes both of Monmouth, 4 grandchildren, great grandson, Nolan Carnes numerous nieces and nephews and her special helper, Debbie Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Jason Carnes; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. John Irwin of the Heritage United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call at Hoover-Hall memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
