Dorothy Marie LaRue, 89, of Galesburg formerly of Alexis died at 11:44 P.M. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Heartland Care Center in Galesburg.

She was born March 15, 1923 in Mercer County, Illinois the daughter of Charles Axel and Maud Alberta (Mellinger) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Mercer Co.

Dorothy married Roger LaRue in Alexis on Sept. 17, 1961 and he died Nov. 10, 1974.

Dorothy was a secretary for the Alexis State Bank for several years. She enjoyed doing needlework and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. She was a very active in her church and enjoyed assisting with the church bazaar.

Survivors include her step son Norman (Connie) LaRue of Macomb; stepdaughter, Caroline Carmack of Macomb; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, sisters, Leota Mosley and Leona Heck; one brother, Charles Johnson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Friends may call Saturday morning at the church where her family will be present one hour prior to the services. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com.

Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church. Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church.
