Dorothy M. Nelson

Dorothy M. Nelson, 100 of Monmouth, IL passed away Tuesday January 5, 2016, 7:05 am at the Monmouth Nursing Home Monmouth, IL. She was born Wednesday December 29, 1915 the daughter of Dwight L. and Nelia (Duke) Campbell. She married Harold A. Nelson in 1942, he preceded her in 1987.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son Jack (Sharon) Nelson of Peoria, IL one granddaughter Kimberly (Ryan) Harken of Peoria, IL and one grandson Timothy (Katy) Nelson of Austin, TX; 4 great grandchildren Jake and Kailey Harken, Reid and Trent Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters.

Dorothy was a graduate of Monmouth College and a member of the Alpha Delta Sorority. She was a teacher in Yorkwood for 21 years retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and also a member of D.A.R. She was a former member of both Fall Creek United Methodist Church and Little York United Methodist Church and a current member of the Monmouth United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be Saturday January 9, 2016, 11:00 am at the Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be at the funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 am. Memorials may be left to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria, IL. Online condolences may be left at wisefamily-hooverhall.com.
