Edna Cooper, 79, of Kirkwood, Il died at 6:40 P.M. Sunday, April 22, 2012 at her home.
She was born September 26, 1932 in Cedar Grove, MO the daughter of Thurman and Stella (Smith) Smith. She was raised and educated in Cedar Grove, MO. and graduated from Houston High School in Houston, MO. in 1950.
Edna served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952.
Edna married Roy Cooper in Burlington, IA. on March 23, 1954 and he survives.
Edna was a homemaker and worked for a short time at Gale Products, Iowa Ordinance Plant in Burlington, and owned and operated a restaurant in Oquawka. She loved to go to flea markets, cook, bake, garden, flowers and spending time with her family.
She was a member of a Baptist Church in Des Moines, IA.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; sons, Gary (Marcia) Cooper of Monmouth, Roy Cooper, Jr. of Burlington, IA, and Ron (Laurie) Cooper of Topeka, KS; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Louise Amato of MO. and Virginia Ethridge, of MI.; brother, Max (Doris) Smith of Ca.; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers preceded her in death.
Cremation has been accorded. No visitation or services are planned at this time. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com
