Edward Eugene "Gene" Nally, 68, of Alexis died 8:20 A.M. Friday, September 27, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born February 8, 1945 in Missouri, the son of Edward Eugene and Mary (Word) Nally.
He was raised and educated in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Adams State University, Alamosa, Colorado.
He married Judy Henning Gerard on July 16, 1999 at Gatlinburg, Tennessee and she survives.
He was a Professor at Carl Sandburg College, teaching Industrial Technology for 22 years. He had done upholstery from a young age. He had served as an EMT with the Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance Service. He loved cars and enjoyed working with leather, wood and stain glass.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Galesburg, where he had served as Treasurer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Judy, two step-daughters, Jenny (Ryan) Lair of Alexis and Julie Gerard of Knoxville, two step-sons Jeremy (Christy) Gerard of Oneida and Justin (Lesley) Gerard of Lebanon, IL, five step-grandchildren, Jaren Gerard, Gavin Gerard, Jayden Gerard, Madilyn Lair and Cooper Lair, and one sister Marian Buckholz of St. Joseph, MO, along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis with Rev. Leroy Torres of the Church of Christ of Galesburg. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 30, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
