Floyd D. Whinery, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, 90, of Swan Creek (Roseville), Illinois, passed away at 7:25 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. He was born March 16, 1933, in Barton, New Mexico, the son of Walter and Mary (Woods) Whinery. He was raised and educated in New Mexico and California.

Floyd served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the early 1950’s during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Boeing Aircraft as a painter for 25 years until his retirement.

He married Frances V. Hicks on April 3, 1956, in Porterville, California and she survives.

Floyd loved to do leather working and mowing the lawn. He was a collector and a tinkerer. He volunteered as a VA ride-share van driver for over 10 years. He loved Jesus and his greatest joy was his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are; wife of 67 years, Frances Whinery; children, Tommy (Lori) Whinery of Tacoma, Washington, Randy (Becky) Whinery of Farmington, New Mexico, James (Nancy) Whinery of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Diane (Gary) Chapman of Marysville, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
