Gene Tapscott

Gene Tapscott, 75, of Galesburg, IL passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016, 3:55 pm at the Marigold Nursing home Galesburg, IL. He was born Wednesday June 5, 1940, in Joy, IL, the son of Ernest and Lucy (Dennison) Tapscott. He married Milli Brock on November 8, 1974.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Rob (Dee) Hamilton of SC, Kari Hamilton (Larry Podwill) of Boca Raton, FL, Tracy Tapscott Shinn of Galesburg, IL, Shannon Tapscott of Chicago, IL, Jeanne (Todd) Brower of Woodburry, TN,; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two brothers Thurman Tapscott of Alpha, IL and Ted (Kas) Tapscott; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 great granddaughter.

His main love and passion was his family and his music. He worked at Wilsons for 20 years and worked for Office Depot before retiring.

Funeral service will be Monday May 23, 2016 11:00 am at the Wise Family - Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Burial will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday May 22, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Wise Family - Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Memorials may be made in his memory.
