Geneva R. Halladay

Geneva R. Halladay, 91, of Monmouth, IL passed away Tuesday April 24, 2018, 1:05 a.m. at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center Monmouth, IL.  She was born Tuesday April 27, 1926 in Farmington, IL the daughter of John Joseph and Ruth (Huff) Worthington.  She married Robert R. Hallaway and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1974.

She is survived by one daughter Ruthe (Larry W. “Butch”) Greer of Seaton; IL and one son Robert E. Halladay of Joliet, IL; one granddaughter Lindsey M.  (Andrew) Greer of Rock Island, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister (Margaret Jackson), 2 nephews (David & Phillip).

She graduated Farmington High School and then attended college in North Carolina.  She graduated from Monmouth College.  She was a freelance writer and taught creative writing at Carl Sandburg College.

Funeral service will be Friday April 27, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.  The family has requested casual attire.  Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Warren Memorial Park Cemetery Monmouth, IL.  Memorials may be made to Western Illinois Animal Rescue.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
