Gloria Jacobson, 52, of Monmouth died at 4:50 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at her home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1959 in Aledo, Il. the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (Riley) Thomas. She was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School.
Gloria married Daniel Jacobson in Monmouth on Nov. 28, 2005 and he survives.
Gloria has a long history of giving help to the elderly and disabled. She worked with disabled children in the Monmouth School District and made their life that much easier.
She worked for Western Home Healthcare proving help to the elderly that needed simple, everyday tasks completed. She worked for the Monmouth Nursing Home and later Legacy estates where she worked in the Dietary and Housekeeping departments. She talked with the residents everyday. Gloria has a sense of humor that would light up everyone she was around. She would go above and beyond the call of her duties to help those that needed it and touched many hearts because of her unselfish kindness. She was such an extraordinary person that she even touched lives across seas in places like Australia and the U.K. Many hearts are saddened now. This is just who Gloria was, she loved helping others.
Gloria enjoyed playing TextTwist on her phone and love spending time with her friend and family on Facebook. She loved to play Farmville, Yoville and Farm Town. She collected Willow Tree figurines, the ones that held meaning.
She loved the outdoors especially on beautiful days. She did not like to be "cooped up" when the weather permitted. She enjoyed mowing the lawn and cleaning the outside of the house. Both Gloria and Daniel enjoyed walking around the area, especially Monmouth Park, where the Gazebo held special memories.
