Grace E. (Baker) Hook

Grace E. Hook, 93, of Knoxville, IL passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 10:15 a.m. at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.    She was born Wednesday, December 16, 1925, in St. Augustine, IL the daughter of Jesse and Mina (Edmonson) Baker.  She married Milo Starnes on June 10, 1944 and later married Henry Hook on December 23, 1970, he preceded her in death.

Grace is survived by her son, Bud Starnes of Maquon; her three daughters, Ila Laird of Bowie, AZ, Rose Mary Melvin of Green River WY, and Ellen Marie Behrends of Emmitsburg, IA; 22 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter (Kay), 1 son, (Bill) 3 brothers, 3 sisters.

Grace was born in the St. Augustine area at Pretty Prairie and she attended Pretty Prairie School. She moved around the Knox-Fulton county areas, and in 1949 moved to the London Mills community.  She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church.

Graveside services will be Monday, March 18, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the West Midway Cemetery, London Mills, IL. There be no visitation.  Burial will be in the West Midway Cemetery, London Mills, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Avon is in charge of the arrangements.
