Grant Curtis Johnson, 83, of North Henderson, IL died at 5:55 P.M. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Heartland Care Center, Galesburg.
He was born Oct. 18, 1928 in Harmony, Ohio the son of Arthur and Wilhamina (Sindle) Johnson. He was raised an educated in Ohio.
Grant married Rose Shultz, he later married Margaret Meirhaeghe in Orion, IL. on Dec. 13, 1975 and she survives.
Grant served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Grant worked at Admiral and Maytag in Galesburg for 22 years. He also farmed and worked as a mechanic for E & A Motors in Monmouth. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in his yard.
He was a member of the North Henderson United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; 5 children, Cindy Cox of North Henderson, Linda Graham of Burlington, LeAnna (David) Harpman of Colorado, Curtis Johnson of Mississippi and Doug Johnson of Aledo; numerous grand and great grandchildren; 7 sisters, Donna (Ed) Hubbard of Springfield, OH, Frances Walker of Hurkay, N.C., Lois Gootie of Springfield, OH., Nena (Jerry) Kennedy of FL, Flossie (Buck) Ropp of New Carlisle, OH., Robin Master of TN and Mattie of Springfield, OH; 1 brother, Kenny Johnson of TN; numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 granddaughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Wed. March 14, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from Noon-1:30 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Lion Foundation for Vision.
