Hazel Elizabeth Curtis, 98, of Monmouth died 6:55 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Roseville She was born October 9, 1915 in Plymouth, IL. the daughter of Joseph Emberry and Ada (Copeland) Manlove. She attended school in Quincy, Il. Hazel married Stanley J. Hemm in 1931 in Monmouth. She later married Robert E. Curtis on April 13, 1941 in New London, MO. Hazel loved to travel, seeing all 50 States, Canada, Mexico, Iceland and 7 European countries. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crafts and oil painting. Hazel worked for 17 years at Services Rubber in Rock Island, IL and retired from Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Qunicy. Survivors include her son, Vern L. (Phyllis) Hemm of Quincy, IL; 5 grandchildren, David Hemm of Clovis NM., Mark Hemm, Gerald Hemm and Steven Hemm of Quincy and Joyce Brantley of Oklahoma City, OK, 9 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Troy Manlove, Vern Manlove, Ralph Manlove, Everett Manlove, Wayne Manlove and Louis Manlove and two sisters, Lara Hoelscher and Mildred Egbers. Cremation has been accorded. There will be no visitation. Graveside services and interment of ashes will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in Brooklyn Cemetery, Brooklyn, IL with Rev. Jim Epperson. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com. Interment of ashes will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 in Brooklyn Cemetery, Brooklyn, Illinois
