Helen G. Redmond, 96, of Monmouth, IL passed away peacefully at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.
Helen was born Monday, February 11, 1924 in Seaton, IL the daughter of William and Ferne (Walters) Meyers. She was raised and educated in the Seaton area. Helen married Donald W. Redmond on January 24, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1975.
Helen previously owned and managed The Fashion Shop in Monmouth. In later years she had a cleaning business for several families in the area. She also enjoyed her time as a hostess at the American Legion for many years. She was loved by everyone she worked with there.
Helen had always been active in the community. In previous years she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Civic Club, Altrusa Club and served as an election judge. Helen was member in the Faith Presbyterian Church, and previously served as a deacon.
Helen loved working in her yard, her many flowers, painting craft items for her family, and being with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holding a new grandchild always brought a smile to her face.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Karol Bishop, of Galesburg, Regina (Jim) Drish, of Burlington, IA, Joni Todd, of Monmouth, and JoAnn Keller, of Burlington, IA; one son, Michael Redmond, of Rochester, MN; 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law (Stephen Diehl), son (Daniel “Bogie” Redmond), granddaughter (Michelle Dickey), 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
