Henrietta, L. Lauver, 89, of Monmouth formerly of Kirkwood, IL died at 10:20 P.M. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

She was born August 30, 1922 in Coal City, Illinois the daughter of Howard and Lorena (Ware) Bryant. She was raised and educated in Kirkwood, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1939 and later Iowa State University in 1943 earning a Bachelors Degree of Science in Textile and Food Chemistry.

Henrietta married James M. Lauver in Kirkwood on Sept. 15, 1946 and he died Nov. 3, 2008.

Henrietta and James farmed near Biggsville until 1952 at which time James began managing the Bryant's business, Central Feed & Produce Co. in Kirkwood. Henrietta later worked for the business as hardware store manager and buyer.

She was a life long member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, served countless church suppers, and her lovely soprano voice graced the choir. She was known for her expertise in the kitchen. She caused many to swoon over her lemon meringue and gooseberry pies.

Henrietta's pride and joy was her family of 4 children; Karen (James) Noble of Galesburg, Peggy (R.B.) Gallagher of Winston Salem, NC, James (Beth) Lauver of Kirkwood and Mary Lauver of Pullman, WA, 7 grandchildren, Samantha Carr, Joni Liljedahl, Nathan Udd, Alexandra Bey, Bryant Noble, Jessica Lauver and James C. Lauver, 7 great grandchildren and cousins.

Her parents, husband and one sister, Shirley Bryant, preceded her in death.

Private burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. There is no visitation planned. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial may be left for the Kirkwood United Methodist Church. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com
