Holly M (Boyer) Powell

Holly M. (Boyer) Powell, 83, of Avon, IL, passed away at 8:12 a.m., Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Roseville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Roseville, IL. Holly was born November 18, 1938 in her home near Abingdon, IL in Knox County. She was the daughter of Vernon and Hilma (Roberts) Boyer.

She married C. Terry Powell in Avon on November 25, 1955 and he preceded her in death August 25, 2007.

Holly worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Gordon DDS until his death. She then worked at Sundberg Grocery Store. She worked for Lynn Davis Electric until she and her husband opened Avon Electric Service.

She loved her family very much.

Surviving Holly are her daughters, Susan (Fred) Butt of Davis Junction, IL and Shawn Stranger of Avon; five grandchildren, Scott (Alana) Links, Sarah Links, Nicole Butt, Ashley Butt and Dallas Stranger; two great-grandchildren, Victor and Gavin Links; brother, Dan (Sharon) Boyer; sisters, Marna Johnson, Wanita Way and Peg Thomas; sister-in-law, Marie Powell. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, James (Bo), Donnie (Bunk) and Larry Boyer; two sisters, Joyce Hensley and Jackie Timberlake; brothers-in-law, Ronald Powell, Arlien Johnson, Robert Way and Marion (Pete) Thomas.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, in the Avon Cemetery, Avon, IL. Friends and family are invited to greet the family for a time of food and fellowship at the American Legion in Abingdon, IL, following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Avcom Park or the Village of Avon Park and left in the care of the funeral home. Wise Family Funeral Home, Avon, is in charge of the arrangements.
