Iris M. Fridley

Iris M. Fridley, 81 of Galesburg, IL, passed away Sunday May 15, 2016, 10:17 am at her home. She was born Monday, October 1, 1934, in North Henderson, IL the daughter of Joe and Rebecca Nadine (Harland) Holmes. She married Richard C. Fridley on August 25, 1973, he preceded her on June 10, 1992.

Those left to cherish her memory are children Dan C. (Beth) Fridley of Galesburg, IL; grandchildren: Zachary, Lily, and Matthew; one sister Mildred Runion, two nieces Becky (John) Brown and Gloria (Gary) Logsdon; great nephews: Mike (Karen) Brown, Jerami (Nicole) Brown, Joe (Stacy) Brown, Andrew and Aaron Logsdon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 nephew (Timothy Runion).

Iris loved spending time reading the Bible and praying for people. Her second greatest joy was talking about her grandkids. She was known for giving hugs to family and friends. She often housed family and friends while they recuperated from surgery or illness. She also enjoyed going on many outings to see family. She graduated Alexis High School in 1952. She was a member of Colonial Baptist Church. She volunteered at Galesburg Rescue Mission. She belonged to and enjoyed being a part of the Birthday Group Club.

Funeral service will be Saturday May 21, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Home Alexis, IL. Visitation will be Friday Evening May 20, 2016, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Home Alexis, IL Burial will be in in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson, IL.
