James "Jim" Joseph Bratkovic

James "Jim" Joseph Bratkovic, 77, of Monmouth died at 6:42 P.M. Monday, January 28, 2013 at OSF St. Mary's Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born June 24, 1935 in Wisner Nebraska, the son of Joseph Michael and Mary Ann Piper Bratkovic.
He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1953.
James married Donna Anderson in Monmouth on June 14, 1957 and she survives.
He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960.
James first worked for Burlington Truck Lines for 11 years and then went on to work at the Gambles Warehouse for 14 years. He has been a landlord since 1983.
His joy to was to collect and build model trains. He loved antique cars and was especially fond of his 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire. He also loved boating and fishing.
James was of Presbyterian faith and has been a member of Lake Warren since 1986.
His family includes his wife Donna; one daughter, Kimberly (Bradley) Underwood of Monmouth; one son, Jimmie Bratkovic of Monmouth; one sister, Julie (Kenneth) McDaneld of Monmouth; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Jeff Nielsen of Cameron Christian Church. A private interment in Monmouth Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial may be made to Western Illinois Animal Rescue. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com
