James F. Damewood, 72, of Kirkwood, died at 8:30 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1939 in Berwick, IL. the son of James Anderson and Lucille (Ketchum) Damewood. He was raised and educated in Little York, graduating from Little York High School in 1957.
James married Margaret Ruth Stevens on June 14, 1959 in Little York and she died March 21, 1990. He later married Edith Swanson in Kirkwood on March 5, 1994 and she died Oct 20, 2009.
He was a long haul trucker and worked at Kitch's Locker in Monmouth for several years. He loved fishing, woodworking and yard work.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Damewood of Galesburg; three sons, Mike (Lorrie) Damewood of Monmouth, Mark (Cindy) Damewood of Kirkwood and Todd (Lisa) Damewood of Abingdon; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and 1 great granddaughter; one brother, William Damewood of Little York; two sisters, Mary Ruth (Jimmy) Johnson of Monmouth and Doris (Ernie) Grabowski of Rantoul, IL.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son, Tony Damewood and one granddaughter, Megan Marie Damewood.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Friday, July 6, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Pastor David Dutton of the Little Cedar Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
