Jay "J.C" Hornbaker

Jay “J.C.” Hornbaker, 71 of Prairie City Passed away on Sunday September 5th 2021 at 8:47am at his home. He was born on December 4th 1949 in Avon the son of Jay and Garnett (Yocum) Hornbaker. He married Gloria Shriver on June 28th 1969.

He is survived by his Wife Gloria of Prairie City, two daughters; Carolyn Hornbaker of Bushnell, Cim Smith (Butch) of Bushnell, one sister Kathryn Havens of Prairie City and many nieces and nephews. A brother-in-law Melvin Purchase of Galesburg.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Christina, sisters; Marlene Purchase, Marilee Moore.

He was a heavy equipment operator local #649 until his accident in 1975. He was an avid Chicago Bears Fan . JC loved to joke around, but he wasn’t scared to give you his opinion. Sometimes he would even debate about them.

Cremation rites have been accorded, a Graveside service will be held October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie City Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at the Prairie City Community Center. Memorials may be made to St. Jude  Children's Hospital or the Donors Choice.
