Jean Blindt

July 10, 1933 — October 27, 2017

Jean Blindt, 84, of Smithshire, IL died Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Roseville, IL.  Jean was born July 10, 1933 in Monmouth, IL to Maxine and Carl Peterson, and was raised by her mother Maxine and step-father Wendell Pinney.

She attended Colfax grade school and graduated from Roseville High School.  She attended Western Illinois Teachers College, Macomb, IL and Burlington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Burlington, IA.

She married LeRoy Blindt October 27, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Raritan, IL.  How fitting she joined him on what would have been their 63rd anniversary.  He preceded her in death on November 21, 2009.

She lived her entire life in the Roseville area.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Colfax Club.  She was a homemaker but also worked at the La Moine Christian Nursing Home and was school nurse at Roseville Unit Schools.

She loved Sewing and reading but really enjoyed traveling with her husband and family.  She and Roy also enjoyed winters in Arizona and going to Maine in June for fresh Lobster.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Dave) Gillett of Avon, IL; sons Mark (Joan) Blindt of Smithshire, IL and Todd (Anne) Blindt of Canton, IL; 8 grandchildren: Jeanne Gillett, Carissa (Dion) Pearce, LeAnn (Tim) Neubauer, Charlene (Matt) Tennis, Stephanie (Andrew) Gelaude, Ellen (Cameron) Schulte, Amie and Kevin Blindt; 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral mass will be Tuesday October 31, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Raritan, IL.  Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Monday October 30, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with the rosary beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.  Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice and/or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise family Funeral Home Roseville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
