Jerry Lee Mowen, 68, of Monmouth, IL passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, 6:50 p.m. at the Prairie City Rehab and Health Care Center Prairie City, IL.  He was born Thursday, April 13, 1950 in Monmouth, IL the son of Leo and Marlene (Watts) Mowen.  He married Connie Jo Hull on February 7, 1970 in Raritan, IL.

Jerry is survived by his wife Connie Jo Mowen of Monmouth; daughters, Angie (Scott) Middendorf of Steeleville, and Jennifer (Dan) Gracey of Monmouth; grandchildren, Braden and Raegan Middendorf of Steeleville, and Madilynn and Oliver Gracey of Monmouth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Jerry was born and raised in Monmouth.  After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and went to Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Sargent. While he was in the Army, he met and married Connie Jo.  Jerry worked as a correctional Lieutenant, and also worked construction.  He enjoyed woodworking, yardwork and playing with his grandkids.  He was a Monmouth City Alderman in the 4thWard.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.  Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and or the Wounded Warriors.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
