JoAnn (Miller) Frakes, 82, of Avon, Illinois, passed away at 3:13 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Illinois. JoAnn was born September 3, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Cecil and Mabel Miller. She was raised and educated in Basco, Illinois.
She married Roy L. Frakes on April 16, 1960 and he survives.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband of 64 years, Roy L. Frakes, of Avon; children, Robbie (Bonnie) Frakes of Washington, Illinois and Kimberly (Doug) Baker of Bloomington, Illinois; grandchildren, Nick Baker, Nicole Paul, Roman Frakes, Rachel Frakes and Raquel Frakes; great-grandchildren, Delaney Baker, Paige Baker, Jackson Frakes, Lucas Frakes, Hudson Paul and siblings, Carol Miller of Basco and Doris (Charlie) Bietsch of Springfield, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roy L. “Bill” Frakes; one sister, Dixie Wear.
JoAnn worked for Swan Hills golf course and Maytag Manufacturing. She later worked for the Avon School District as a custodian. She enjoyed working with all of the students in the school. JoAnn loved gardening especially flowers. She liked to watch the birds in her yard. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch basketball and other sporting events on tv. JoAnn was a very caring person and had a huge heart. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
