John Larkins

John Larkins, 81 of Galesburg, IL passed away Monday January 11, 2016. 12:15 am at his home. He was born Friday April 20, 1934 in Oquawka, IL the son of William G. and Pearl L. (Easton) Larkins. He married Colleen J. Sage on June 11, 1954 in Monmouth, IL

He is survived by two sons Dale (Pam) Larkins and Tim (Becky) Larkins of Galesburg, IL; four daughters Joyce (Tom) Helms, Janet Pierce of Galesburg, IL, Judi (Don) Jarvis of Rock Island, IL and Julie Baldwin of Athens, OH. He had 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. He also had one brother-in-law Forrest Crist of OR, and one sister-in-law Betty Larkins and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and 5 sisters.

John attended schools in Rosetta, Monmouth, East Galesburg, and Galesburg and graduated from Auctioneering School in Mason City, IL. He worked at Union Carbide and McKeesport Hospital, PA and retired from Admiral-Maytag in 1996 after over 40 years of work. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time with his children. Grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family always came first.

Funeral service will be held Thursday January 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Biggsville Cemetery Biggsville, IL. Memorials may be left to the St. Jude's of Peoria, IL and Shriners Crippled Children.
