Karen Patricia (Houck) Ault

Karen Patricia Ault, 70, of Roseville, IL passed away Thursday November 2, 2017, 8:28 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria, IL. She was born Wednesday November 6, 1946, in Akron, Ohio the daughter of George W. and Dorothy (Brown) Houck. She married Charles E. Ault on September 10 1966, in Bloomington, IL.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years Charles E. Ault of Roseville, IL; her two children Kimberly (Brendon) McQueen of Sydney, Australia, and Chad E. Ault of Hot Springs, NC; her sister, Cynthia Wood of Hilton Head, SC; grandchildren, Scarlet, Cayden, and Tristan McQueen; stepdaughter Cindy (David) Upchurch of Rochester, IL; step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen had worked with her husband at their Purina Feed Store in Roseville, as an office manager. She was also an Agent at Country Companies in Macomb and Roseville and as a secretary/office manager in the Computer Science Department at Western Illinois University, where she retired in 2012. Karen was passionate about many things, especially traveling, whether it be with her husband on the dozens of Company trips they enjoyed, with family and friends, visiting her daughter and family in China and Australia, or her son in North Carolina. She also enjoyed mentoring; from her time as a den mother with the Girl Scouts, to the many student workers she hired at WIU. Karen’s unyielding generosity, benevolence, gracious hospitality, and spirit guided her through life. She had many wonderful friends. She loved animals as well, a virtue she shared with all who knew her. She was an avid reader, gardener and cook.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday November 9, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Raritan, IL. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery Roseville, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday November 8, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.
