Lenard E. Palmer, 82, of Galesburg, IL passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, 11:09 a.m. at the Aperion Care Galesburg North, Galesburg, IL.  He was born Wednesday, July 28, 1937 in Chicago, IL the son of Edward and Martha (Palmer) Wimmer.

Lenard is survived by one son, Marc Paschke of San Francisco CA.

Lenard was raised and educated in Chicago, graduating from Morgan Park Academy, DePaul University and Chicago State University.  He taught handicapped children in the Chicago Public School system.  He also worked for 26 years as an employee of the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Corrections.  Lenard spent many years in the music business and was a long-time member of the American Federation of Musicians, locals #10 in Chicago, #655 in Miami, #269 in Las Vegas and #178 in Galesburg.  He played with several Big Bands including Tiny Hill.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 8, 2020, 10:00 a.m. in the Alexis Cemetery.  There will be no visitation or other funeral services planned.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society and or the Corpus Christi Catholic Church    Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home Alexis is in charge of the arrangements.
