Leo R Williams

Leo Richard Williams, 88, of Avon, Illinois, passed away surrounded by his family at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his home. He was born March 27, 1935 in Walnut Grove, Illinois, the son of George William and Ruth Regina (Raymond) Williams. He attended  Bushnell/Prairie City schools.

He married Linda Lou LeGate on July 5, 1968 in the London Mills United Methodist Church and she survives.

Leo worked for Admiral’s/Maytag for 36 years and also farmed in the Avon area. He enjoyed taking care of the livestock and his greatest joy was attending his grandkids sporting events and other activities.

Those left to cherish his memory are; wife of 55 ½ years; children, R. Tom (Angie Orten) Williams, Peggy Jo (Chris Tracey) Williams, Amanda Lynn (Aaron) Kemp,  Jessica Dawn (Darrin) White all of Avon; grandchildren, Autumn, Kaylyn, Morgan, Cole, Izzy, Abby, Ali, Mike and Zack; great-grandchildren, Zellie and Zaiden; one sister, Martha Whiteman of Monmouth, Illinois. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gail Williams.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a private family Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avon First Responders or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
