Lois Illene (Simmons) Schmalshof

Lois Illene Schmalshof, 88, of Avon, IL passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 4:34 p.m. at her home. She was born Saturday, February 7, 1931, in Greenbush IL, the daughter of Glen and Verna (Vandeveer) Simmons. She married Donald E. Schmalshof on March 26, 1950, in Greenbush, he preceded her in death on February 10, 2011.

Lois is survived by two daughters, Susan Thompson of La Marque, TX, and Brenda (Randy) Sensabaugh; two sons, Andy (Tammy) Schmalshof, and David (Kate) Schmalshof all of Greenbush’ 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather (Clyde W. Austin), husband, and 2 brothers.

Lois was born and raised in Greenbush, where she has lived within 2 miles her entire life.  She was a member of the Greenbush Christian Church and later the Roseville Christian Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was active in-Home Extension and was a 4H Club Leader. Lois was a member of the Greenbush Quilting Bee, the Greenbush Community Card Club and also the Warren County Genealogy Society.  She left a city girl from Greenbush and farmed with her husband for many years.  She was a true home Artisan.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 14, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL. Visitation will be Friday, evening, September 13, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery Greenbush, IL.  Memorials may be made to the Lions Club Hearing Impaired and or the Main Street Flower Planters.  Please sign our online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL is in charge of arrangements.
