Margaret E. "Peg" Lock

Margaret E. “Peg” Lock of Avon died June 18, 2018 at 7:53 P.M. at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Il. She was born Sunday, June 7, 1931, the daughter of Lee and Verna Huddleston Pickard.  She married Ray E. Lock December 26, 1954 in Galesburg.  He preceded her February 27, 2001.

She is survived by, One Daughter Sue Ann Hendel of Pekin, One son Bruce Lock of Avon; four Grandsons  Shawn (Robyn) Hendel , Brandon Hendel, Brian Lock, and  Marcus (Cassie) Lock ; Seven  great grandchildren.  Two Brother’s Fred (Twyla) Pickard of Galesburg and Bob (Eleanor) Pickard of Frederick, MD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister Dorothy and Infant Daughter Sarah Jane.

She worked at Saunders Hospital, for Dr. Frankhauser and also at Western Illinois University.  At 50 years old she went back to school to become a  P.A.  She was an active member of the Avon United Methodist church where she taught Sunday School.  She was a nurse at work but also at home and in the community when neighbors and friends needed her.  She was a devoted Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Funeral Service will be held Friday June 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Avon United Methodist Church in Avon, IL.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 prior to the service at the church.  Memorials may be made to AVCOM Park, Illinois Talking Book Center, or Avon United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.
