She was born July 11, 1926 in Galesburg, daughter of Rex and Lucy Reams. She went to school in Galesburg. She married Eugene Reed in Galesburg on April 13, 1944. They were married 60 years at the time of his death on December 1, 2004.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are her parents, one sister and five brothers. She is survived by her children: two sons, Richard Reed of Kemp, TX, Chuck (and Wanda) Reed of Nashville, TN and one daughter, Nancy (and Scotty) Powell of Avon, IL, who was her primary caregiver until her passing. Surviving also are 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She attended Avon Federated Church.

She worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg during WWII while her husband was in the war. She then worked at the Antenna Factory in Avon, Avon Nursing Home in Avon, and Fey's Meat Processing in Abingdon for several years. She enjoyed working outdoors including her garden and small livestock operation. She was known to nurse sick or injured animals back to health. She lived in the home she and her husband built for nearly seventy years. She enjoyed cooking for those she loved and always welcomed anyone at her table. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid bingo player. She traveled to many Timberwolf Reunion gatherings all over the country to annually visit with her husband's veteran comrades.

Marion's contagious spirit of giving and caring was recognized by many who met her and will be noticeably missed by her family, friends and neighbors but she leaves behind many precious memories of a well-lived life.
