Martha (Kemble) Abernathy

Martha Abernathy, 85, of Avon, Illinois, passed away at 2:22 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Marigold Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Galesburg. She was born December 15, 1938 in, New Salem, the daughter of Clifford and Edna (Barclay) Kemble. She was raised and educated in Macomb, graduating from Macomb High School in 1957.

She married Robert Abernathy on June 2, 1957 and he preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory are her half brother, George Stewart of Macomb, Illinois and several cousins and other relations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Steve Abernathy.

Martha was a long-time member of the Walnut Grove Church. She enjoyed talking and visiting with people. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She worked as a housekeeper for many years.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October, 10, 2024 at the Pennington Point Cemetery, Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter or Walnut Grove Methodist Church and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
