Martha L. Moore

Martha L. Moore, 93, of Alexis, IL, died at 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

She was born April 20, 1919 in Warren County, the daughter of Clarence and Edna Foster Loveridge. She was raised and educated in Alexis.

Martha married Howard "Bus" Moore on April 18, 1936 in Alexis and he survives.

They owned and operated Moore's Grocery in Alexis for a number of years. Martha loved to play cards and was known to be good at making pies and her famous scotch-er-roos.

She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary of Alexis, and a member of the Trump It Bridge Club for over 70 years.

Her family includes her husband, Howard "Bus" Moore of 76 years, of Alexis; one daughter, Pat Corben of Alexis; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson, four step-great grandchildren; eight step-great great grandchildren along with one sister, Shirley Spivey of Alpha and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, one son-in-law, one grandson, and one granddaughter-in-law.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, Alexis with Rev. Steve Rhodes. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Her family will be present at the church to receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be left for the Alexis United Presbyterian Church.
