Maxine Ruth (James) Allaman, 92, of Macomb (formerly of Sciota) passed away peacefully at The Elms Nursing Home on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 1:15 p.m.
Maxine was born January 5, 1924, in Blandinsville, IL to Orville and Francis (Myers) James. She attended Good Hope High School and later worked at the Macomb JC Penney store for several years. Maxine married Bruce Allaman on June 13, 1941 and they were life-long residents and farmers in McDonough County.
Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be remembered for her special talents as a pie baker and candy maker by many who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, baking, sewing and making crafts.
Maxine was a member of the former Sciota Christian Church where she volunteered in numerous different capacities and also helped prepare many meals served at the Church over the years.
She is survived by: sons, Dennis (Sarah) Allaman of Monmouth, Lonnie Allaman of Macomb and one daughter, Carolyn (David) Bowman of Sciota; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; as well as her brother Merlin (Rosalie) James of LaHarpe.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Hope Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will be held at The Annex in LaHarpe, IL 11:30 a.m. where friends and family are invited to share fond memories of Maxine.
Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements. No formal visitation is planned, friends may call 10 am-6 pm on Friday at the Wise Family-Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL.
