Maxine F. (Blair) Braselton, 90, of Roseville, Illinois, passed away at 9:47 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. She was born September 18, 1933, in Monmouth, the daughter of John and Dorothy (McGraw) Blair. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1951.
She married Donald Braselton on June 6, 1954, at the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2016.
Maxine worked as a secretary for Illinois Banker’s Life Insurance and Illinois Public Aid. She worked as a cook in the Roseville School District for 23 years and was head cook for 13 years. She was the Roseville United Methodist Church secretary for 8 years until her retirement. She was a 4-H leader for the Point Pleasant 4-H club and pianist and Sunday School Superintendent for Swan Creek United Methodist Church for several years.
She was an avid bridge player and she liked to do word puzzles, gardening, and loved following her grandchildren’s various sports and other activities. She made delicious candy that her family and friends enjoyed. She and Don had many adventures traveling the country on bus tours. They also participated in ballroom dancing with their friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are: children, Susan (Bernard) Eaves of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ron (Chris) Braselton of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Chad (Lindsay) Hunter, Sara (Joe) Huston, Jenny (Jim) Hood, Ashley Eaves, Bryce Eaves, Luke, Grace, and Vince Braselton; great-grandchildren, Ailexa, Marlea, and Jack Hunter, Jaxson Huston, Abbey, Blake, and Carson Hood; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Marcia Hunter/Ebert.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roseville United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
