Michael Raymond Schulthes

June 1, 1946 — June 18, 2020

London Mills, IL

Michael Raymond Schulthes died at 11:00 PM on June 18, 2020 at home surrounded by those he loved.  Mike was born on June 1, 1946 to Henry and Emma Mae (Camp) Schulthes.   He was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters Mae Anna (Mickey) Estes, Shirley Duttonm, and Carol Foster.
He graduated from Spoon River High School and attended classes at Western Illinois University. He married Nancy Bowen in 1966 and they had two children, Julie of Cuba, IL, and Chris of London Mills, IL.   He later married Linda Oelberg Pedersen and embraced her two children, Christopher Pedersen (Johnna) of Stratford, MO and Meagan Pedersen Wheeler (Steve) of Oneida,IL, as his own, becoming the father they had never had.  Family came first to Mike and he was an incredibly active and loving grandfather to his eleven grandchildren and almost three great grandchildren:  Blane and Gavin Pierce, Danielle and Cameron Schulthes, Stephanie McCombs, Kate, Jacob, and Lyla Wheeler, Hira, Ian, and Atley Pedersen, and great grandchildren Justin and Kaydence Morrow with baby Julian coming in July.  He also left behind many loving nieces and nephews.

He was a born and bred farmer who took over all manual labor on the farm at the age of thirteen when his father had a heart attack.  He bought his first farm when he was only seventeen and farmed until his body would no longer allow him to climb up on the machinery.  Nothing would please him more than to know that some of his children or grandchildren carried on his love of farming.
We are grateful for the special prayers of the many prayer warriors who prayed for the two of us.    Your prayers held us up on many difficult days.  Special thanks to Rod and Suzanne Chatterton who went above and beyond to be supportive of us.  They don’t just talk the talk. They walk the walk.      Thank you to Harbor Light Hospice for helping us through this journey and special blessings to Pastor Katie from Faith Lutheran in Wataga.  She drove a long distance to bless us.
Although we will miss Mike’s loving presence in our daily lives, we rejoice in the fact that he is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
Please make memorials to St Jude’s or the local Public Television Station as Mike believed in supporting each of these. Cremation rites have been accorded, do to Covid-19 social distancing no services are planned at this time.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
