Paula Pieper

Paula Pieper, age 71, of Monmouth, IL was taken home to her Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 7:35 PM in Roseville Rehab and Health Care in Roseville, IL.  She was born on Friday, September 17, 1948 in Roseville to Phil and Nancy (Staat) Gerding

She is survived by two sisters; Betsy Hanley of Springfield, IL and Dawn (Rick) Beasley of Richland, MO.

Also surviving are the proudest accomplishment of her life, her six children, Mary (Bryan) Moser of Morton, Charlotte (Tony) Carlson of Roseville, Phil (Jennifer) Pieper of Galesburg, Micki Pieper of Bluffs, PJ Pieper of East Moline and Tina Henderson of Geneseo, twelve grandchildren and three great grandsons.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Thomas Gerding.

She lived most of her life in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High School in 1966.  She attended Monmouth College for a short time before getting married and raising a family.  When her family was “mostly” raised, she returned to school and earned her nursing degree from Carl Sandburg College, graduating in 1989.  Paula worked as a nurse at the Roseville Nursing Home and the Medical-Surgical floor and Extended Care unit at Cottage Hospital.   Nursing was her second greatest love and when it was no longer possible, she tutored nursing, math and sciences at Carl Sandburg College.  Paula enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets for family and friends.  She was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 2 – 4 PM at the Wise Family Funeral Home in Roseville.  A Celebration of Life service will be planned at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Roseville Community Center or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Wise Family Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.
