Peter Koucouvelis, 48, of Alexis, died at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria.
He was born August 2, 1964 in Chula Vista California, the son of Edward and Alexandria (Kavalerie) Koucouvelis. He was raised and educated in California and graduated from San Diego State with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Peter married Michelle Anderson on October 10, 2009 in San Diego California, and she survives.
He worked for American Eagle Airline in San Diego. Peter was a Greek folk dance instructor, having coached the team that won the championship.
He was a member of the St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff by the Sea, California.
His family includes his wife, Michelle; one son, Dimitri Koucouvelis of Los Angles, CA; one sister, Eleni Koucouvelis of Chula Vista, CA; one nephew, Alexander Koucouvelis of Chula Vista, CA; and his mother, Alexandria Koucouvelis of Chula Vista, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Bishop Hill Cemetery, Bishop Hill. Visitation with his family will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established American Hear Fund or American Cancer Society.
