Phillip "Terry" Ehrenhart

Phillip "Terry" Ehrenhart, age 82 of the Illinois Veteran Home, Quincy, IL died Friday February 24, 2017 at 6:52 a.m. He was born September 22, 1934 in Galesburg, IL, the son of the late George W. Ehrenhart and Darlene "Ruby" Ehrenhart (Smyers). Terry worked as a warehouse receiving foreman at Gamble Skogmo in Monmouth, IL for 27.5 years. He retired maintenance and storekeeping from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL in 1997.

Terry served in the Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married his high school sweet heart, Beverly "Gay" Enfield on August 9, 1953, in Anchorage, Alaska during the war. Gay preceded him in death on January 10, 1999 after 45 years of marriage.

Terry loved to spend time with his family on the farm in Roseville where he lived most of his life until moving to Berlin, IL with Gay to be close to his children in September 1997. In 2000 Terry married Joanna Ashwell, and they lived in Berlin, IL until 2010 when he moved to Hawthorne, FL after suffering a stroke in March of 2009. He moved back to IL to live at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL in November of 2013.

Terry is survived by his wife, Joanna of Hawthorne, FL; daughter, Cherilyn (Jim) Donovan of Cartersville, GA; son, Steven (Jane) Ehrenhart of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, David (Emma) Ehrenhart, Ellen (Matt) Greenlief, Heather (Joey) Lodes, and Scott Simpson; great grandchildren Jackson Greenlief, and Grady and Kennedy Lodes; sister-in-law Helen Ehrenhart of Abingdon, IL; step-brother Leroy "Butch" (Joni) Smyers. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 45 years Gay Ehrenhart, daughter Sherrie (1956) and brother Gene Ehrenhart.

Terry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren on the farm in Roseville. Terry raised quarter horses and later Clydesdales, he also raised airedale terriers. He enjoyed raising, breeding, and training horses. He and Gay met many good and lifelong friends through their farm and horse activities.

Honorary Pallbearers~ Gary Hayes, Don Kirby, Bill Brooks, Wendell Horney, Roger Gray, Hank Crede, Dale Regennitter, and Gale Schisler.

His wishes were to be cremated, Graveside services will be Saturday April 22, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery Roseville, IL.
