Richard E. Lafferty

Richard E. Lafferty, Alexis, IL, passed away at home Tue. Jan. 12, 2021.

He was born Feb. 28, 1935 to George B. and Hazel (Nelson) Lafferty. He married Margaret Flanagan July 11, 1958 in Monmouth, IL and is survived by her.

Also surviving is one brother: Ted (Barb) Lafferty; five children: Lisa Johnson, Tim (Kelly) Lafferty, Deb Lafferty (Rich Copeland), John (Sara) Lafferty and Barb Lafferty; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Elizabeth Lafferty, Barbara Simonson, and Marjorie Quilty; and four brothers: George D. Lafferty, Bill Lafferty, Dave Lafferty, and Larry Lafferty.

Dick graduated from Alexis High School, served in the United States Marine Corps, and worked 40 years as a welder at Alexis Fire Equipment. He was a retired volunteer firefighter and diehard Cubs fan.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Wise Family Funeral Home of Alexis is overseeing arrangements. Per Dick’s wishes, no formal services will be held.  Memorials may be made to Alexis Fire Department or the memorial of the donor’s choosing.
