Richard L. "Dick" McCaw, 90, of North Henderson, IL, died at 12:55 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
Richard was born in Seaton, Il on January 12, 1922 the son of Howard and Velva (Awbrey) McCaw. He graduated from Alexis High School in 1939.
He married Joyce Johnson at the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson on May 5, 1945 and she survives.
Richard farmed in the Rio and North Henderson area all of his life. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, and collecting arrowheads. Richard was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson, a lifetime member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau, and coached the Jr. Sheriff's Softball team for many years.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; a daughter Judi. Simpson of Knoxville; a son, Joe (Patti) McCaw of New Windsor; four grandchildren, Brad McCaw, Becky (Mike) Hatlestad, Bob (Kristen) Lair, Mike (Josie) Lair; nine great grandchildren, Brit, A.J., Kate, Jack, Jake, Olivia, Ivy, Vivian, and Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandson, Coleman Stone Lair.
Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson with Pastor Beth Hamilton. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Monday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be left for the Zion Lutheran Church.
