Robert F. Ehlen, 86, Monmouth, IL, died 11:14 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. He was born December 3, 1927 at Canton, Illinois, the son of Herman John and Ellen Marie (Walker) Ehlen. He was raised and educated in Canton and Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945. Bob married Beverly Rose Brown on April 19, 1952 in Evansville, Indiana and she preceded him in death on January 16, 1991. He served in the U.S. Army as a Lt. Col. for 20 years, serving during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served as one of General McArthur's Honor Guards post World War II. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Ronda (Gregg Sage) Willhardt of Monmouth, Debbie ( Mike Heise) Maritz of Sheffield, IL and Robert ( Glenda) Ehlen of Cameron, 5 grandsons, I granddaughter, 1 great granddaughter, one brother, Dale Ehlen of Galesburg and his companion, Bonnie McCann of Monmouth, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 brother. Graveside committal with military honors will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2014 in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Memorials may be left for the OSF St. Francis Cardiac Care Unit. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com. No Visitation hours are planned. Graveside Service: Graveside Committal with military honors will be 1:30 P.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 in Warren County Memorial Park.
