Robert G. "Mickey" Knepp, 78 of Camdenton, Missouri and formerly of Monmouth, died at 5:03 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
He was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Monmouth, the son of Carlton and Harriet Sprout Knepp. He married Jeanne Kellogg on Jan. 31, 1959. She died Dec. 13, 2008.
Surviving are his mother, Harriet Knepp of Bloomington; a sister, Carla Smith of Bloomington; a brother, Jack (Mary) Knepp of Chicago; two step-children, Mary Louise (John) Kellogg-Joslyn of Branson, Mo. and Buster (Jane) Kellogg, Jr. of Monmouth; three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother-in-law, F. Sherwood Smith.
Mickey graduated from Kewanee High School in 1951 and served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1953-55. He and his wife owned and operated Knepp's Women's Apparel in Monmouth for 21 years before moving to Missouri. They then worked together as sales reps for ladies apparel in Missouri and Kansas until their retirement. He and Jeanne loved traveling together and drove to Acapulco many times. Mickey enjoyed golf, boating and spending time with his many friends.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, 900 N. Main St., Monmouth, Ill. 61462. A reception will follow the service.
