Sharon Louise (Numbers) Woodard

Sharon Louise (Numbers) Woodard, 68, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 23, 2020, after a prolonged 7 years battle with cancer.

Sharon was born Sunday, July 29, 1951 at the old Monmouth Hospital, the daughter of Harry James and Winifred Louise (English) Numbers.  She graduated from Monmouth High School and Burlington Cosmetology Academy.  She worked for her parents at the White Mill on S. Main.

Sharon resided many years in Tulsa, OK.  She worked as a hair stylist, owned and operated a print business and was a gourmet cook.  She contributed in raising nephew Eric Numbers and was very active in his sports and education.  She was MeMe Sharon to grandson Jacob Robert Numbers.

Sharon was a longtime member and president of the Tulsa Woman’s’ Club of the Moose Lodge.  Sharon maintained long relationships with friends across the country while returning to Rockford, IL in 2003.

Sharon is survived by her sister, Shirley Mecum; brothers, James (Delores) Numbers, Larry Numbers; and sister Sheryl (Jim) Pierce.  She was also extremely close to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was a Godmother to Daniel Mecum, and Megan Pierce.  She had special friends Mike and Jo-Dee Olds, and Bill Kinder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, older brother (Orville Lee Numbers), brother-in-law (Edward Mecum Sr.) and many other relatives and friends.

Burial will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in the family section of the Monmouth Cemetery.  No services will be held at her request.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise family Funeral Home Roseville is in charge of the local arrangements.
