Shirley Jean Ewing, 87, of Monmouth, died 8:04 A.M. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was born November 16, 1924 in Roseville, IL, the daughter of George D. and Edna Victoria (Paradee) Spicer. She was raised and educated in Monmouth.
Shirley married D'Arcy H. Ewing on November 7, 1940 in Burlington, Iowa and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1995.
Shirley's main interest was her family and she enjoyed and put a lot of pride into baking pies She had worked at Hawcocks, Bowman Colwell, Western Stoneware, Monmouth College and at Econo Foods.
She was of Methodist faith.
Her family includes two sons, Rick (Cynthia) Ewing of Monmouth and Jeff Ewing of Monmouth and Debbie Ewing of Galesburg, grandchildren, Rebecca (Chad) Ellison of Monmouth, Randy Ewing of Las Cruces, NM and Matthew Ewing and Ryan Ewing both of Monmouth, great grandchildren, Tiffany Millizer of Peoria and Alayna Millizer and Logan Millizer of Monmouth, one great great grandson William Carter Lease of Monmouth.
Her parents, husband and several aunts and uncles preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
