Shirley L Wright

Shirley L. Wright, 83, of Avon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 3:50 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2025, at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born June 19, 1941, in Avon, to George and Dora Bernhart, and was one of three children. She was raised and educated in Avon graduating from Avon High School in 1959.

On November 10, 1960, she married Robert J. Wright in Keokuk, Iowa. They established their home in Avon where they raised four children. She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and her beloved Steelers. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her grand-pup Wrigley. She enjoyed reading books by Debbie Macomber and embroidering gifts for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert J. Wright, Sr.; children, Robert (Susan) Wright, Jr. of Oquawka, Illinois, Randy Wright of Avon, Rhonda Jones of Monmouth, Illinois and Rodney (Elaine) Wright of Weston, Missouri; one sister, Sharon (Keith) Bearce of Abingdon, Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George (Sonny) Bernhart and one granddaughter Amanda Wright.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation with a graveside service to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
