Virginia J. Rossell, 77, of Alexis, died 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at OSF St. Mary medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born January 2, 1936 at Galesburg, the daughter of Leo and Bernice (Tornquist) Frank. She was raised and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 1954.
Virginia married Howard Rossell at North Henderson, Illinois on April 23, 1978 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2010.
In her younger years she worked at Formfit Manufacturing in Monmouth, and then worked at Maytag for 30 years until retiring. She then worked in the Alexis school cafeteria for 8 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She loved her flower garden. She enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to sew.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson, the Alexis Women's Club and the Red Hatters.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Marie (Troy) Johnson of Galesburg and Barbara (Brian) Neice of Alexis, two sons, Larry Hogan of Peoria and Howard Rossell, Jr. of Knoxville, God Daughter, Amy Bainbridge of Colorado, three grandchildren, James Lawson, Tori Johnson and Gabrielle Neice, and one sister Carol (Keith) Corbin of Alexis along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband and daughter, Laura Lawson.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church, North Henderson with Rev. Beth Hamilton. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where her family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
